Rationale of Computer-Based Instruction

Package Acceptance Training at UPS will be delivered as computer-based instruction, specifically on CD-Rom. There are several reasons for why computer-based instruction is the best fit for this training.

  1. This information is copyrighted by UPS and, for the most part, confidential. Web-based instruction (WBI) may not be as secure as a password protected computer-based instruction (CBI).
  2. Training will take place at the Customer Centers all over the United States. While all Centers do have at least one computer, not every Center has Internet access. For this reason, CBI is a better choice.
  3. This training is designed for a newly hired Customer Center Associate and there are Customer Centers located all over the United States. By delivering this instruction via CBI, more Associates at more Centers will be able to trained with only little cost for reproduction needed as opposed to classroom-based or facilitator-lead instruction.
