Associates are introduced to each component and its importance. The next section discusses how to identify proper packaging and also recognize possible problem packages. These types of packages may be damaged during shipping because of their inadequate packaging and may result in a damage claim. Associates will need to use the knowledge acquired from the first section to understand the underlying principles package acceptance.

The third section informs the learner how packages are measured and weighed at UPS for pricing purposes. Also included in this section, are size and weight restrictions for package acceptance at UPS. The final section of the module differentiates between the various shipping rate categories at UPS. Associates are also instructed as to how it is determined which category a package will fall into. The lesson comes to a close with a summary of the topics addressed in the module.

Self-assessment and interactive activities are included throughout the lesson. These forms of assessment point out key information and test retention of that information. The module concludes with a post-test. Post-test questions were designed to mirror the lesson objectives.

While the lesson was designed for a newly hired Customer Center Associate, current Associates can also benefit from the information contained. This training will also be able to address the false information floating around the Customer Centers.
